The Dielectrophoresis Network

Dielectrophoreis is the induced motion of suspended particles (such as cells, nanotubes, proteins and so on) due to interaction with non-uniform electric fields.  It can be used to characterise, manipulate and separate these particles. The dielectrophoresis group at the University of Surrey was established in 1999.  It has produced nearly 80 papers in the field of dielectophoresis and related phenomena, three books and six patents - and have been cited over 5500 times.  Our expertise is in the development of low-cost, robust technology for dielectrophoresis appications, and in the application of dielectrophoresis to the measurement of electrophysiology in cancer, stem cells, drug discovery and diagnosis.  Our aim is to make dielectrophoresis-based technology that one day, everyone will use.
